The Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees holds its first meeting of 2013 tonight at seven in the boardroom at 333 E. EighthSt. The agenda features a truckload of new board policies, 33 in all, as the district hustles to meet spring\u00a0ACCJC deadlines.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere:<\/p>\n
*Nomination forms for the 2013\u00a0CFT convention, set for March 15-17 in Sacramento, have been distributed to campus mailboxes. Dues-paying\u00a0PFT members are encouraged to nominate colleagues and themselves to participate in our parent union\u2019s lively annual gathering. Formal voting will follow nominations, which close Wed., Jan. 30, at 4 p.m. Please see the nomination form for full details.<\/p>\n
*Negotiations between\u00a0PFT and the district continue this term, with fee-based instruction, counseling assignments, and, of course, benefits and wages figuring prominently. Also up for discussion between the union and the PCCD: a host of new administrative procedures and board policies. Look for frequent updates throughout the spring.<\/p>\n
*The\u00a0PFT Executive Council convenes for its first meeting of the New Year Th., Jan. 31, 3-5 p.m., at the union offices (500 E. Eighth. St., Ste. B, Oakland). All faculty members are welcome to attend. The EC will return to its regular first-and-third Thursday schedule starting Feb. 21.<\/p>\n
And save the dates:\u00a0PFT\u2019s first general membership meeting of 2013, the third of the school year, is on for Th., Feb. 28, 12:15-1:30 p.m. at BCC. Constitutional amendments, spring elections, and ongoing contract talks will top the agenda. The final\u00a0GMM of 2012-13 is set for Th., April 25, 3-5 p.m., at Laney.
