*The Peralta Board of Trustees meets tonight at 7 at 333 E. Eighth St. in the district boardroom. Among the key agenda items: the final 2010-11 budget; the opening of contract discussions with PFT, SEIU, and Local 39; the end of the district’s contract with OPEB consultant Pineapple Group, LLC; the effort to use up to $250K in general fund monies over the next three years to run the Peralta Foundation; and a slew of facilities-related issues. If agenda page-count is any indication, meeting-goers are advised to bring pajamas.
*The district continues to drag its feet on PFT’s practically cost-free proposal to start SDI deductions, the disability insurance payments that part-time faculty approved in a spring 2010 vote. PFT is in talks with the chancellor to see that this simple change, requiring only minor reprogramming of payroll computers, be made as soon as possible.
*The PCCD Benefits Office begins month-long open enrollment Oct. 1, an annual chance for employees and retirees to change or enroll in medical, dental, and flexible benefits plans, and to add eligible dependents not currently covered. Forms are due to the Benefits Office by Oct. 31. Download the open enrollment announcement and benefits fair activity schedule at http://peralta.pswbenefits.net/.
*A meeting focusing on part-time issues is set for 12-1 p.m., Wed., Sep. 29, at Merritt, in Room R 127. Contact PFT part-time rep Cynthia Mahabir at cmlaney2003@yahoo.com for more information. In unity,
